Condición médica

¿Qué será eso de “condición médica?, me pregunto. ¿Será el quirófano, las medicinas, los medios o instalaciones para curar? Nada de eso.

 Descubrí que es la traducción literal del inglés “medical condition” que significa que una persona sufre o tiene una dolencia, afección o enfermedad y, frecuentemente se nos dice que un paciente tiene una condición seria, pero en este caso abusan tanto de condición como de seria, pues lo correcto es decir que ese paciente está en un “estado grave”. Y si dicen “condición crítica”se exponen a que los “critiquen” a ellos, pues el enfermo no está ya grave sino gravísimo.

Muy grave, por cierto, es el pronóstico para el español si no estamos en “condiciones” de protegerlo contra el anglicismo.

“Condición” en español significa “requisito”, como en el ejemplo:

“Te presto el dinero que necesitas, con la condición de que me lo devuelvas en una semana”

O lo que sería igual a decir que el requisito para prestarte el dinero es el de que me lo devuelvas en una semana.
