Una vez más quiero compartir con mis lectores mi preocupación por que tanto mis estudiantes de español como aquellos hispanohablantes no maltraten el idioma.

Comienzo por el verbo inglés “To endorse” que no puede traducirse al español como “endorsar”, nó! “endorsar no existe en nuestro diccionario. No diga entonces “Yo no endorso la política migratoria de este gobierno”. Nuestro idioma es muy rico en vocabulario y podemos traducir esa palabra inglesa como respaldar, apoyar, avalar o aprobar. Diga “Yo no apoyo, no respaldo o no apruebo la política migratoria de este gobierno”

 El problema radica en creer que podemos castellanizar cualquier verbo inglés, añadiéndole a su raíz la terminación de una de las tres conjugaciones verbales que tenemos en español: AR, ER o IR. En este caso, tomamos la raíz de verbo “endorse” y añadimos la terminación –ar y ahí tenemos endors-ar.

 

Oímos frecuentemente en los noticieros de television  en español a un reportero afirmando que “la policía está trabajando fuertemente para enforzar las leyes Estatales”. El verbo “enforzar” tampoco hace parte del diccionario de la RAE (Real Academia Española de la lengua). El reportero en referencia ha debido decir que “la policía está trabajando fuertemente para hacer cumplir o hacer respetar las leyes Estatales”.

    I have been working with Augusto for 4 years. The first year we met in person, but then I moved and we have been conducting my classes remotely, via internet. My Spanish went from basic to advanced during that time. I am very impressed with how creative and productive his lesson plans are. We work on conversation, improving my pronunciation, reading and writing structure.

    Augusto makes learning fun and is very personable. His curriculum is great for business, leisure or personal growth. He is very knowledgable on the rules of Spanish grammar. I strongly recommend anyone that wants to learn Spanish to work with Augusto. You will be very pleased with the results.
